Puzzledorf Will Bring Match-3 Sokoban Puzzles to Xbox on August 31

The Xbox release will include Play Anywhere support, achievements, colorblind options, and two weeks of exclusive new content.

Puzzledorf will arrive on Xbox on August 31, 2026, with new puzzles and mechanics for players to tackle. The new content will launch on Xbox first, staying exclusive to the platform for two weeks before reaching other platforms.

The release details appeared in an Xbox Wire announcement. The Xbox store page already offers a demo along with preorder and wishlist options, while the Microsoft Store listing shows a $9.99 price.

Puzzledorf is built around colorful block-pushing puzzles inspired by classic Sokoban. Players move blocks onto matching targets, with multiple colors forcing them to plan around one another. Some stages also add ice that lets blocks slide across the level.

The Ruins adds a match-3 twist

The new Ruins puzzles add jewels and match-3 rules to the block-pushing formula. Pushing a jewel sends it sliding until it meets another object, which can create entirely different board setups. Matching three jewels of the same color removes them, and every jewel must be cleared to finish the level.

The Xbox version will also add achievements. Stuart’s Pixel Games has designed the game around a gradual difficulty curve, with no timer, unlimited undo moves, and a colorblind mode. That gives players room to work through tricky layouts without being rushed.

Play Anywhere support and new languages

Puzzledorf will support Xbox Play Anywhere and ROG XBOX Ally, with cloud saves allowing players to carry their progress between supported devices. The launch will also add German, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, and other languages. More language support will follow after release.

How Puzzledorf’s puzzles take shape

Stuart’s Pixel Games uses Puzzlescript, a free block-pushing engine, to test level ideas quickly. The design process starts with small questions about a level’s shape, block placement, and how players might move through narrow spaces. One example centers on swapping colored blocks positioned on opposite sides of the player, which later became a finished puzzle.
