The July total covers only the final few days of the month. Halo: Campaign Evolved launched on July 28 across Xbox, PC, cloud, Steam, and PlayStation 5, so the estimate does not represent a full month of sales.
Alinea’s wider platform snapshot puts Halo: Campaign Evolved at roughly 212,000 copies on Steam and around 900,000 on Xbox, with the Xbox figure combining console and PC sales. That would place Xbox sales at about twice the PlayStation total, though the estimates do not provide a full breakdown of the Xbox number.
The July PlayStation ranking also estimated Black Ops 2 at roughly 8.2 million copies and Black Ops 1 at around 3 million. Rhys Elliott, Alinea Analytics’ head of market analysis, shared those figures on Aug. 4 in a July sales ranking, placing Halo well behind both Call of Duty ports.
Elliott’s explanation focused on value and familiarity. The Black Ops ports were established games arriving as players were ready to revisit them, and PlayStation Plus subscribers received a limited-time discount when the ports launched. By comparison, Halo: Campaign Evolved carried a $60 price for an updated presentation of the 2001 campaign. Elliott argued that asking players to pay that amount for what he viewed as mainly a visual refresh made the remake a harder sell, and questioned whether Halo still had the same pull it enjoyed around the Halo 3 and Reach era.
These numbers are not an official sales update from Xbox or Microsoft. No methodology was included with the figures, so they should be treated as an outside estimate rather than a confirmed platform report. The PlayStation result could also change as the game gets more time on the platform.
