Pokémon GO may have a long-running National Trust event underway in parts of the United Kingdom. A graphic for the promotion, titled All Summer Long, advertises activity from July 18 through December 31 in local time at National Trust sites in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

The graphic lists PokéStops and Gyms at 140 National Trust locations, with raids available at 27 selected sites. It also mentions 27 Location Backgrounds to collect and says that each listed location has two Gyms.
The locations are grouped into London and South East, Midlands and East of England, North and Northern Ireland, and South West and Wales. A Pokémon GO page provides the full location list shown on the graphic.
More Timed Research is also advertised. The image mentions a nationwide Timed Research task along with new Timed Research becoming available each month throughout the summer. National Trust sites may charge entry fees, so anyone planning a visit would need to check the individual location before traveling.
The original Reddit post does not include an official event announcement, so the advertised schedule and reward details should still be treated cautiously. If the schedule is accurate, the July 18 start date places the promotion in progress on August 4, with the listed end date still set for December 31.
That still leaves the shiny-background question unanswered. The graphic refers to Location Backgrounds but says nothing about shiny variants, their appearance, or a bug that could affect them. It also provides no shiny odds or explanation of whether Location Background reward rules change during the promotion. The small location images shown in the collage are not enough to establish that shiny National Trust backgrounds are damaged or working differently from standard versions.
That question is also separate from a possible profile use for Special Backgrounds found in Pokémon GO files. That discovery does not confirm this National Trust promotion or explain how any shiny background would look.
