RGL will host its next 6s Newcomer Cup for Team Fortress 2 from September 4-6, 2026, with TF2 Coaching Central preparing eligible players through a four-week training intensive. The event is aimed at players with little to no competitive experience.
According to the official Team Fortress announcement, TF2 Coaching Central will place participants into teams and assign each group a coach. The program will cover the basics of six-player competitive play, including maps, strategies, team practice, and match preparation.
Training Runs Before the Cup
The training intensive is scheduled to run from August 10 through September 3. During that period, players will scrim with their teammates, review matches with their coach, and prepare for their first organized competition. The RGL cup will follow immediately afterward from September 4-6.
Applications for the training program are open through August 8, 2026. Interested players can apply through the TF2 Coaching Central Discord.
Players who do not join the coaching program can still enter the RGL cup independently. TF2 Coaching Central will also provide coaching, learning resources, and pickup games for the wider community. Additional league information is available through RGL.gg, while its pickup-game and community resources are linked through the RGL PUGs page.
The format gives new competitors a chance to learn the fundamentals with a team before playing in an official cup. Share your thoughts on the newcomer program in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, and Instagram.
