Microsoft has raised the prices of its Xbox Series consoles across Europe and the UK, with increases ranging from 25% to 30%. The new pricing also leaves the 1TB Xbox Series S above the original launch price of the Xbox Series X.
The updated prices appeared on Microsoft Germany’s Xbox storefront on August 3, 2026. The 512GB Series S now costs €499.99, up from €349.99, while the 1TB version increased from €399.99 to €599.99.

That puts the 1TB Series S at €599.99 in Europe and £519.99 in the UK. At those prices, the smaller console costs more than the launch price of the Xbox Series X, even though the Series X remains the more powerful system.
The US increases have also pushed the 512GB Series S to $499.99, the 1TB Series S to $599.99, the 1TB Series X Digital to $749.99, and the 1TB Series X Disc to $799.99. The standard Series X is now $150 more expensive than its previous US price.
That makes Microsoft’s hardware more difficult to distinguish from Sony’s current lineup on price. The PS5 Digital Edition is listed at $599.99 in the US, the standard PS5 at $649.99, and the PS5 Pro at $899.99. The 1TB Xbox Series X is therefore $100 below the PS5 Pro, while the two Series S models overlap with the PS5 Digital Edition’s price in the US.
The price increase also puts the 512GB Series S above Nintendo Switch 2 in both regions. Nintendo’s newer console currently costs £395.99 in the UK and €469.99 in Europe, making it cheaper than either Series S model. Switch 2 is priced at $449.99 in the United States, although Nintendo has announced that its US price will increase by $50 to $499.99 in one month. The company had not confirmed matching price changes for the UK or Europe, so the regional comparison could change later.
Xbox prices rise after earlier US increases
Microsoft had already confirmed price increases in the United States, where Xbox consoles rose by between $100 and $150. The European and UK adjustments are steeper in several cases. The 512GB Series S, for example, increased by £130 in the UK compared with a $100 increase in the United States.
The company also began phasing out the 2TB Xbox Series X model in June. Microsoft attributed that decision to rising component costs, according to Game Developer’s report on the console changes.
The price changes arrive as Xbox hardware sales face pressure. Microsoft reported that Xbox hardware revenue fell by 29% during its latest earnings period, with the decline attributed to lower console sales volume. Higher prices could make the company’s current hardware lineup harder to sell, particularly in markets where the Series S had served as the lower-cost entry point.
Memory costs remain part of the pressure
Rising memory and storage costs have affected consumer electronics across the industry. The source of the pricing details also pointed to Microsoft’s heavy investment in artificial intelligence as part of the wider discussion around demand for memory components.
Microsoft has not announced another Xbox console generation yet. The next systems are still discussed in connection with a late-2027 or 2028 window, but the available information does not confirm a launch date or final pricing.
