Spirit reached the BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2 grand final after surviving a serious challenge from FaZe in a three-map semifinal on August 1.
The series began with Spirit taking Dust2, their map pick. FaZe answered on Cache after recovering from a 1-6 deficit. Ryan “Neityu” Aubry helped turn the map around with a Deagle triple, while David “frozen” Čerňanský grew into the match after a quiet opening. FaZe eventually closed Cache from the CT side.
Anubis became the decider, and FaZe looked in control early on the T side. The team built a 6-1 lead and later reached 10-5 after winning the second pistol round.
Spirit then found the answer through a slower approach that made FaZe wait for information deep into each round. Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov provided the AWP impact Spirit needed, and the comeback gathered pace. FaZe finally stopped one of Spirit’s late-round attacks with an aggressive push from A, but a follow-up move through Connector was punished.
Spirit completed the comeback with a 13-11 win. A last-second bomb plant in the final round helped Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and his teammates finish the series, although donk was well below his tournament-leading form after entering the match with a 1.60 average rating at BLAST Bounty.
Spirit’s supporting cast steps up
Sh1ro led Spirit’s response, with Boris “magixx” Vorobiev topping the scoreboard on Dust2 and Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotia keeping the team alive on Anubis. That balance mattered as FaZe repeatedly forced Spirit to recover from difficult starts.
FaZe’s defeat ended its BLAST Bounty run with another top-four finish, following its result at XSE Pro League. The team is currently 13th in the preliminary VRS rankings and remains close to direct invitations for ESL Pro League and IEM Beijing, which are scheduled to be issued on August 3. FaZe is also inside the invitation range for FISSURE Playground 5.
Spirit will now wait for the winner of the other semifinal before playing for the BLAST Bounty Season 2 title.
