The Division Resurgence will make its global debut on August 5, 2026, Ubisoft confirmed. The free-to-play spin-off will launch natively on Steam alongside iOS and Android, with cross-platform multiplayer connecting players across all three versions.
Rather than continuing the timeline after the mainline games, Resurgence will return to the early days of the dollar flu outbreak in New York City. Its story will remain part of The Division’s established universe while filling in events from the first wave of the crisis.
A new open world set during the first wave
The game will feature a shared open world with more than 100 activities. Players will be able to tackle them alone or join a squad for co-op missions. The familiar foundations of the series will also return, including cover-based combat, skill-driven gadgets, weapon progression, and class builds for different playstyles.
Resurgence will also bring back the Dark Zone. The high-risk PvPvE area will sit alongside dedicated competitive PvP modes, giving players several ways to test their gear and combat skills. As in the mainline games, the Dark Zone will put valuable rewards against the danger of losing an extraction run.
Native PC support and cross-play
Early details made Resurgence look like a mobile-only project, but Ubisoft has confirmed that the game will receive an official PC version through Steam. PC players will not need to rely on an emulator, and cross-platform multiplayer will let them play with friends on iOS and Android.
Ubisoft has also promised regular post-launch updates, seasonal content, more weapons, and new endgame challenges. The publisher has not positioned Resurgence as The Division 3, but the spin-off will offer another way to return to the franchise’s tactical looter-shooter formula when it launches on August 5.
