Diablo 4 Season 15 Will Make Mythic Unique Crafting More Predictable

The Horadric Cube will preserve a Unique item's affixes, Tempering, and Masterworking when turning it into a Mythic Unique.

Blizzard is changing Mythic Unique crafting for Diablo 4 Season 15 after players criticized the randomness of the Season 14 Horadric Cube recipe. The new version will keep the original Unique item, including its affixes and item modifications, instead of replacing it with a random item from the same slot.

The changes were outlined in Blizzard’s Season 15 PTR details. The crafting methods themselves will remain familiar, but the results will give players more control over what they receive.

PTR 3.2.0 is scheduled to run from August 4 through August 11. Blizzard has not confirmed when these changes will reach the live game. The update does not undo Mythics 3.0: Mythic items will continue to function as a type of Unique, but the current system’s combination of two guaranteed stats and two random ones will be replaced with a more predictable setup.

The Horadric Cube Will Keep Your Item Intact

Season 15’s Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic recipe will turn a Unique into its Mythic version through a direct one-to-one transfer. A Tibault’s Will with the desired affixes, Tempering, and Masterworking will remain Tibault’s Will after the upgrade, with those properties carried over.

The Cube recipe will cost more than the comparable Blacksmith or Jeweler options. It also comes with an important restriction: players cannot use it on an Unmodifiable item. That means Transfiguring a potential Mythic Unique candidate can prevent it from being used in the direct upgrade recipe.

This change reverses the most frustrating part of the Season 14 system. Instead of spending resources on a recipe that could return another item from the same slot, players will be able to target the specific Unique they already own. Season 14’s broader Mythic loot changes had already made the item chase less predictable, which made the Cube’s random outcome even harder to swallow.

Jeweler Crafting Will Still Produce Random Results

The Jeweler’s Rune Crafting recipe will offer a different path. It will combine Resplendent Sparks and Runes, then let players select an equipment slot such as a one-handed weapon or ring. The result will be a random class-specific Mythic Unique from that slot.

That option will remain useful for players who do not have a specific Unique ready for the Cube. The trade-off is that it will not provide the same item-by-item control as the direct upgrade recipe.

The Crafted Tag Is Returning With a Limit

The previously removed “1 Crafted Item” restriction will return, but only Mythic Uniques made through the Horadric Cube’s direct upgrade recipe will receive the Crafted tag. Players will be able to equip only one item with that tag.

Mythic Uniques created through the Jeweler will not carry the Crafted tag. Mythic Uniques made through the Blacksmith or Jeweler also will not receive that tag, leaving players with more room to equip multiple created Mythic items as long as only one comes from the restricted Cube recipe.

Season 15 will give Diablo 4 players two very different crafting choices: spend more for a precise upgrade that preserves a prized item, or use the Jeweler to chase a random class-specific Mythic from a chosen slot.
