Ready or Not’s v1.5 Update Will Let Players Rebuild Missions Their Way

The free update will add controls for suspect, civilian, SWAT, and player behavior across every platform in the coming weeks.

Ready or Not will receive a free Mission Editor with the upcoming v1.5 update, giving players control over a wide range of mission variables. VOID Interactive detailed the feature in its July 30 development briefing, but the update will not arrive until the coming weeks.

The editor is designed to let players adjust Suspect, Civilian, SWAT AI, and player settings inside existing missions. VOID Interactive described this as the feature’s initial launch, with more improvements, bug fixes, and content planned for later.

Suspect AI and loadout controls

Suspect settings make up the largest part of the Mission Editor. Players will be able to assign behavior archetypes, choose appearance presets from other missions, and select the voice-over sets connected to those appearances. Mission-specific objectives and named characters may still remain unchanged.

The available archetypes can push a mission in very different directions. The cowardly archetype makes suspects more likely to hide behind or beneath objects, while the tactical archetype creates a more coordinated threat. Players can also combine archetypes in a pool, allowing eligible AI to receive random choices based on the mission’s rules.

Weapon pools will also be customizable. Suspects can be assigned primary weapons ranging from an M249 to a bolt-action rifle, along with a backup weapon. Players can even create scenarios featuring knives, bomb vests, no primary weapons, and the irrational archetype. The total number of bomb vests in a mission can be adjusted as well.

Other mission setups could include a single suspect with a concealed weapon, a large civilian population, or a manhunt built around a particularly evasive enemy. The editor will also allow players to change how many suspects appear in certain missions.

SWAT AI modifiers will focus on the combat performance of NPC officers. These options include visual-stimulus reaction time, morale damage from SWAT activity, and a morale-damage multiplier. Commands to surrender, less-lethal weapons, forced doors, gunfire, and ordinance use can all affect morale.

Civilian AI will share some of the same customization options as suspects, though the focus will be on compliance and behavior. The prisoner archetype, for example, will have civilians enter a level already restrained. That can reduce the number of civilians players need to secure or help create hostage-focused scenarios.

Player modifiers will affect health and bandage capacity. Setting health to 50 means a shot that defeats armor could be immediately lethal, while limiting players to one bandage leaves only a single chance to stop a bleeding wound.

Mission rules and the v1.5 fix preview

The editor will also cover several broader mission settings. Players can change bomb timer lengths, select multiple door-trap types, turn default character spawns on or off, and adjust the maximum percentages for locked and open doors. The chance of suspect suicide can be changed too.

Raising the maximum number of open doors can give suspects longer sightlines across a level. Increasing locked doors creates more forced-entry situations, while lowering that setting can make a run less focused on breaching.

VOID Interactive also shared a short video previewing a small selection of fixes planned for v1.5 and v1.5.1. The studio said the clip does not represent the full changelog.

The Mission Editor will arrive free on all platforms with v1.5 in the coming weeks. VOID Interactive noted that the feature remains a work in progress and that its development briefings do not cover every change currently in production.
