Final Fantasy XIV will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 in August 2026 with a 117.2GB installation, according to the US Nintendo eShop listing. That would make Square Enix’s MMORPG the largest single game file currently identified for the console.
The download would use almost half of the Switch 2’s 256GB internal storage. Players would have roughly 138.8GB left for other games, screenshots, updates, and system data before accounting for the space reserved by the console itself.

The Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy XIV is also larger than Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which previously held the franchise’s biggest file-size record at 91.8GB. The difference is more than 25GB.
A larger eShop entry exists for Kingdom Hearts Collection, with a reported estimate of 131GB in a Nintendo Life report. That package contains three games, while Final Fantasy XIV would represent one game installation.
The size is tied to the MMO’s long-running content library. The Switch 2 release will include the base game alongside the data from Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and Dawntrail. Players who purchase only the base game will still need to install that broader game data.
Square Enix’s next major expansion, Evercold, is scheduled for January 2027. Its arrival will add even more content to the MMORPG after the Switch 2 version launches.
For players using the standard 256GB model, Final Fantasy XIV will leave little room for a large collection without additional storage. The final required space could still change before release, but the current eShop listing already places the game above every other single title identified for Nintendo’s new console.
