Xbox backward compatibility has arrived on PC in early release, bringing four original Xbox games to computers and supported handhelds on July 22, 2026. The launch includes the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X, giving these older adventures a new place to run without leaving their original gameplay behind.
Microsoft announced the rollout in its official Xbox announcement. The first games available in supported regions are:
- BLiNX: The Time Sweeper
- Conker: Live and Reloaded
- Crimson Skies®: High Road to Revenge
- Fuzion Frenzy®
All four titles can be purchased on PC and are included with every Xbox Game Pass plan. Players who already own a digital console license can use that license on PC or a supported handheld as well. With Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming support, the games can be played across Xbox consoles, the cloud, PC, and handheld devices.
PC features and system requirements
The PC versions include several graphics options that were not part of the original console experience. Players can choose up to 4x resolution upscaling, enable VSync, use fullscreen or windowed display modes, and adjust anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing. Language and audio settings can also be customized.
The games are accessed through the Xbox app on PC. A compatible computer or handheld needs to meet the following minimum requirements:
- GPU: Nvidia GTX 950, AMD Radeon RX 550, Intel UHD 770, or Intel Arc A310
- CPU: Minimum 4-core Intel Core i3-8100, AMD Ryzen 3 1200, or AMD Ryzen™ Z2 A Processor
- RAM: 8GB
- OS: Windows 11
- Drivers and versions: Latest version as of January 2026
Microsoft lists these recommended specifications:
- GPU: Radeon RX 68005, Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti, or Intel Arc A770
- CPU: 6 cores and 12 threads with an Intel Core i5-10400, AMD Ryzen 5 3600, or AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme
- DirectX version: DirectX12 API, Hardware Feature Level 11
- GPU VRAM: 8GB
- OS: Windows 11
- Drivers and versions: Latest version as of January 2026
Achievements are coming later
The four launch games do not yet include Achievements, but Microsoft plans to add them to the preview titles in the coming months. The feature is also planned for select original Xbox games on both console and PC later in 2026.
