Eevee Spotlight Hour will take place in Pokémon GO on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. local time. Every Eevee caught during the event will grant 2× Catch Candy, giving Trainers a great chance to stock up for Eevee’s eight evolutions.
Shiny Eevee will also be available, and the event will overlap with the Ultra Unlock: 10th Anniversary Event. That celebration runs from July 23 at 10:00 a.m. through July 25 at 10:00 a.m. local time and provides 8× XP for catching Pokémon.
What to expect during Eevee Spotlight Hour
- Eevee will appear much more often from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. local time on July 23.
- Catching Pokémon will award 2× Candy during the Spotlight Hour.
- Shiny Eevee can appear, and all of Eevee’s evolutions can be shiny.
- The 8× catch XP bonus from the Ultra Unlock event will also be active.
How to prepare
Clear space in the Pokémon storage before the event begins. Poké Balls, Great Balls, and Ultra Balls will also disappear quickly if Eevee spawns at a high rate, so check your item bag ahead of time.
A Mega-Evolved Pokémon that shares Eevee’s Normal typing can add extra Candy to catches. The available choices are Mega Pidgeot, Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Audino. A Mega Pokémon at a higher level can also improve the chance of receiving Candy XL from catches that match its type.
Trainers do not have to spend the hour catching Eevee. The double Catch Candy bonus can also apply to other encounters, including saved Scatterbug encounters, research rewards, raid bosses, and Pokémon attracted by a Mystery Box or Coin Bag. Saving those encounters until the event starts can help build Candy for other Pokémon as well.
Eevee details and evolution costs
Eevee is a Normal-type Pokémon with a maximum Combat Power of 1210 CP. Its listed recommended moveset is Tackle and Last Resort, while Partly Cloudy weather increases its appearances.
Each Eeveelution requires 25 Eevee Candy, although several evolutions also have extra requirements. The eight options are Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon.
Which Eeveelutions are worth keeping?
For raids, Vaporeon and Flareon remain useful budget attackers. Espeon can also deal solid damage, while Sylveon offers good bulk. Glaceon and Leafeon are usable in some teams, though stronger alternatives are available. Umbreon is more suited to Gym defense than raids.
In Trainer Battles, Umbreon is the standout choice in Great League and can also work in Ultra League, where Fighting- and Fairy-type opponents are a concern. Sylveon has good Great League viability and performs well against Dragon, Ghost, Fighting, and Dark types in Ultra League. Jolteon can find some Great League use with Discharge, while the remaining evolutions are more situational.
Best way to spend the hour
Use the first few minutes to activate your Mega Pokémon and check your item supply. Then focus on fast catches, keeping any high-level or high-IV Eevee for later appraisal. The combination of 2× Candy and 8× catch XP makes July 23’s event useful even for Trainers who already have enough Eevee Candy.
