UPDATE: At the time of this writing there was no official statement by 505 Games that Control is coming to Xbox Game Pass. However, there was a statement by 505 Games to correct the mistake that was given within the Livestream (can be found below) where Phil Spencer states that Control is heading to Xbox Game Pass.
505 Games stated the following:
The information about Control coming to Xbox Game Pass as reported on a recent Mixer stream is incorrect. We have no news or announcements regarding Xbox Game Pass at this time.
On the other side of the story, Microsoft has confirmed this error:
We’re aware that “Control” was mentioned as coming to the Xbox Game Pass library and can confirm this was in error. While we are always updating the library and looking for new ways to provide our members with value and choice in their games, we do not have plans to bring “Control” to the library at this time.
Xbox’s subscription service will possibly enrich its repository with a new game title. That is Control, an action-adventure video game developed by Remedy Entertainment. Published by 505 Games, the future of Control pretty much remained a secret.
In a recent Livestream on Mixer, Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, has confirmed the arrival of Control to the Xbox Game Pass. Control’s Xbox Game Pass maneuver is based on the low player reach that Control has had since its release. The Xbox’s subscription service, which also adds the ability to play games on the PC for just a flat fee, it could help Control reach more fans across the globe.
The Livestream segment can be found below with Control’s arrival to Xbox Game Pass statement at around the 44th minute. Quoting Phil Spencer:
I thought Control was really good, but it didn’t reach enough people so I am glad to see it is coming into Game Pass so hopefully more people play it, because it’s a game it should be played.
Shortly after, the discussion continues with an opening CoD story mode praise, so if you’re eager to find out what is being said, make sure you peek at the VOD above.
