MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will open its doors to everyone for a 72-hour beta beginning July 24. The test will be available on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, giving players a larger look at Arc System Works’ 4v4 tag fighter before its August 6 launch.
PlayStation laid out the beta’s schedule, roster, modes, and access details in its Open Beta guide. No registration will be required. Players will only need to download the test from their platform’s store.
Open Beta schedule and access
The Open Beta will begin on July 24 at 12:00 a.m. PT and end on July 26 at 11:59 p.m. PT. In the other time zones listed by PlayStation, that is July 24 at 8:00 a.m. BST and 4:00 p.m. JST through July 27 at 7:59 a.m. BST and 3:59 p.m. JST.
Pre-downloads will become available two hours before the test begins. A PlayStation Plus subscription will not be required, but every participant will need an internet connection and a PlayStation Account, including players on PC.

Ranked matches, local play, and the Open Lobby
The beta will include Casual Match for quick online battles and Ranked Match for players who want to compete on a ladder. Versus Mode will support local matches on the same system, along with CPU battles for solo practice.

Between fights, players can visit the Open Lobby. The space uses miniature versions of the game’s stages and will let players choose from 16 avatars, each with four color options. Communication will be handled through free chat, preset messages, stamps, and emotes. Arcade cabinets placed around the lobby will provide another way to challenge other players.

Tools for new and returning players
Start Up Battle will serve as an interactive tutorial for anyone unfamiliar with the game. It will cover the basics of 4v4 combat and team systems before placing players in a trial match.
Training Mode will offer a broader practice space. Players will be able to test every available character, work on combos, review game mechanics, and adjust training scenarios and dummy settings.

Episode Mode offers an early story preview
The Open Beta will also include the first three chapters of Episode Mode’s Amazing Guardians storyline. The story follows Spider-Man as he brings a team together to face a mysterious threat approaching Earth.
These chapters will use motion-comic presentation alongside the game’s battles, giving the beta a story component beyond its competitive matches.

Localization and changes since the closed betas
The beta will feature the localization planned for launch. Voice-over and text will be available in US English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese, with Mandarin voice-over. Text-only support will also be offered in UK English, Arabic, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Thai, and Traditional Chinese.
Players who took part in last year’s closed betas will see gameplay and mechanic adjustments based on community feedback. The Open Beta is the last major public test before MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches on August 6.
The beta will give both competitive players and story-focused fans plenty to try before launch. Share your thoughts on the roster and modes in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, and Instagram.
