World of Warcraft is about to make one more alt habit disappear. In Patch 12.1, Auto Loot will become account-wide, so players will no longer need to turn it on every time they create a new character.
For years, that setting has been part of the usual alt setup. Before a fresh character even starts questing, many players have had to stop and flip Auto Loot on first. Patch 12.1 will cut that step out of the routine.
A June 26 post from MrGMYT on X called out the change, and it has already pulled the conversation toward other systems that still are not account-wide, including legacy reputations, currencies, and broader account settings.

It is a small change on paper, but for anyone who rolls alts often, it removes one of those tiny chores that had been part of the game for ages.
