Five new Jackbox games are lined up for PS4 and PS5 this fall

Jackbox Games showed off The Jackbox Party Pack 12 on June 25, and the collection mixes card-making, word games, debate, and camera-based photo edits.

Jackbox Games introduced The Jackbox Party Pack 12 on June 25, and the new collection will arrive on PS4 and PS5 this fall. The pack includes five separate party games built around fast thinking, loud group reactions, and the kind of back-and-forth that works best on a couch full of people.

The studio framed the pack around group play that gets people talking, guessing, arguing, and laughing over the same screen. Each of the five games leans into a different kind of social pressure, from writing prompts to sorting words to defending a ridiculous opinion.

We Forgot a Card

This one starts with greeting cards and the last-minute scramble that comes with buying them in a hurry. Players build a card for an odd occasion by pairing stock images with their own taglines, then wrap things up by creating a talking plush to match the card.

Jackbox said the game grew out of the jokes and clichés that come with card aisles and rushed party shopping, which gives it a very specific kind of comedy. The pace sounds tight, with the design aimed at quick jokes rather than long setup.

MegaPals

MegaPals asks each player to react to a one-word prompt by typing in as many related words as possible before the clock runs out. Points come from matching answers with the rest of the group, so the game rewards people who think alike.

The idea takes cues from folk games such as Mind Meld and Contact, and later rounds use player inputs to keep the prompts changing. That should give every session a slightly different rhythm, even when the group knows how the format works.

Idol Factions

Idol Factions is a team game about sorting words into the right category while the pressure keeps rising. The words keep coming, so players have to talk fast and stay on the same page if they want to keep the right answers in the right place.

Jackbox said Lead Engineer Chase McClure first pitched the game as a solo experience before it evolved into a group format. The team is clearly aiming for the sweet spot where a party game feels hectic without turning unreadable.

Debate and Switch

Debate and Switch turns a town hall into a mess of strange hypotheticals, then asks players to form an opinion and defend it fast. The pitch comes from a mix of inspirations, including Rat Race and the board game Pricetitution, before Jackbox leaned harder into debate mechanics.

The game also features running characters built by Senior Art Lead Hector M Padilla to serve as voters during debates. Jackbox said players can even create their own topics, which should keep the arguments from feeling too predictable.

Hyperface

Hyperface shifts the focus to the camera. Players answer prompts by editing a photo, either by using a stock image or by taking a selfie and altering it in whatever strange direction the round demands.

Jackbox compared the setup to Hear Say from Party Pack 11, which used the microphone, while this new game uses the camera instead. The studio wants players to smudge, squash, stretch, and draw on faces until the result becomes as ridiculous as possible.

With five different game styles in one pack, The Jackbox Party Pack 12 looks like another easy fit for game nights where everyone wants something funny, quick, and a little chaotic. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, and Instagram.
