Bohemia Interactive’s ARMA Reforger update 1.7 has only been out for a short time, but the new player-controlled FIA are already turning Conflict matches into a mess of shaky alliances and backroom deals.
Before this update, the Freedom and Independence Army mostly acted as early-match roadblocks. Now, after time spent in the experimental branch, players can finally take the rebel side for themselves, and that has changed how those opening fights play out across the map.
The result is exactly the kind of chaos. Arma usually creates real people when they get control of a faction. Some squads are still treating the FIA like a temporary third force and teaming up long enough to clear an objective, then going back to business as usual once the dust settles.
That shift follows the Kolguyev update 1.6, which expanded the game before 1.7 put the rebels directly in players’ hands. In practice, the new setup has pushed the FIA far beyond the simple roadblock role they had before.
The stranger stories are the ones involving outright deals. One example described a trade of M16A2 rifles with grenade launchers, ammunition, and LAW launchers in exchange for a diversionary push against Soviet forces. There have also been reports of Soviet players working with local forces, including a Reddit post from a Slovakian war correspondent.
Made an Exchange with the Czechoslovaks as the Soviets and pushed they helped us Push the US XD. Turned the game from a complete loss to a win lol
