NiP cuts esports jobs in Sweden, but says the teams aren’t moving

The organization said some operational esports roles were eliminated in Sweden, while its teams will stay in place and staff were not asked to relocate.

Ninjas in Pyjamas confirmed on social media that it has cut some esports operations roles in Sweden, saying the move was meant to support the long-term health of the organization.

The announcement also pushed back talk that the company was preparing a full relocation to Abu Dhabi. NiP said its esports teams will stay where they are and that employees were not asked to move.

In a LinkedIn post, Ninjas in Pyjamas said, “We’ve made the difficult decision to eliminate some operational roles for esports in Sweden. At the same time, our esports teams will be staying where they are.

The company has also been shifting parts of its business in recent months as it looks for revenue beyond the usual esports model, which has long struggled to turn a steady profit.
