Respawn has announced the Apex Legendsâ„¢: Power Trip Event, and this one puts Wildcard front and center with strange round modifiers, a separate map rotation, and a batch of new cosmetics.
Respawn has been using smaller live updates to keep Apex Legends moving, including an April 14 cleanup and Ranked matchmaking tweaks.
Wildcard gets weird in five rounds
The mode runs across five rounds. Some rounds play normally, but others switch on a random modifier that affects every Legend in the match.
- Featherweight: Legends jump higher, can double jump, and can fast-fall in the air.
- Armored Up: Everyone starts with Red Tier Armor and a Knockdown Shield.
- Red Handed: Every weapon jumps to Mythic tier, with a few new Mythics joining the pool.
- Crouching Camo: Crouching or sliding makes Legends cloak.
- Small Fry: All Legends shrink.
- Blind Box: Everyone gets the same random weapon.
- Adrenaline Rush: Running and sliding speed up, wallrunning is available on command, and knocks give an extra burst of speed.
- Explosive: Grenades become unlimited and death causes self-destruction.
- Blank Slate: All effects are disabled.
For the first time, Wildcard also gets its own map rotation, with Kings Canyon, Olympus, and Broken Moon in the mix. Players can earn Vials during the event and spend them in the Rewards Shop.
Respawn says the event adds 25 new cosmetics inspired by Legends pushed past their limits, including bio-enhanced skins for Octane, Fuse, Wraith, Bangalore, and Lifeline. Ash also gets a Prestige Skin, plus a custom Finisher and a new Dive Trail.
Some cosmetics require in-game purchase, while others can be unlocked through play.
