Fortnite v40.41 lands May 28 as Chapter 7, Season 2 hits its final lap

Downtime is expected around 4 a.m. ET, while Community Day content and early Season 3 clues may also roll in.

Epic Games will push Fortnite v40.41 live on Thursday, May 28, 2026, and the patch should close out Chapter 7, Season 2. Downtime is expected to begin around 4 a.m. ET.

The update follows the May 14 patch and should start the handoff toward Season 3. If you want a closer look at the weekend event feeding into this cadence, Fortnite Community Day 2026 has the timing breakdown.

What v40.41 may include

The biggest item attached to v40.41 is Chapter 7, Season 2’s live event, but it should not stop there. Epic is also expected to move in the content tied to Community Day, and some early Chapter 7, Season 3 leaks could surface as the season shift gets closer.

The patch may also open the door for Chapter 5, Season 4 Battle Pass items to show up in the Item Shop for the first time, though Epic is not likely to release everything at once. The update should also begin the countdown for Typical Gamer’s Icon Series skin.
