Sekiro anime starts its Japanese theater run in September

Sekiro: No Defeat will screen in Japan for three weeks starting September 4, 2026, while its global streaming plan is still tied to Crunchyroll without a date.

Sekiro: No Defeat will begin a three-week theatrical run in Japan on September 4, 2026. There is still no word on when it will reach other regions.

The anime is based on FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and keeps the same core setup, but the adaptation puts more weight on the characters and the world around Ashina. Crunchyroll has already been confirmed as the exclusive global streaming home.

The official synopsis centers on Isshin Ashina, Genichiro, the Divine Heir and Sekiro as war closes in on the region. A trailer has already shown off the show’s look, and the key visual points to a style that should feel familiar to anyone who spent time in FromSoftware’s world.
