Nikita Buyanov’s new shooter has a former Call of Duty artist at the center of its concept work

Aaron Beck has spent more than a year and a half on Fragmentary Order, where Rant Gaming Studios says he is serving as lead concept artist.

Rant Gaming Studios has put a familiar name from Call of Duty in charge of one of the most visible parts of Fragmentary Order. The studio said Aaron Beck, a former Call of Duty concept artist, has been leading the game’s concept work, and that he has been involved with the project for more than 18 months.

That detail came alongside a post from Nikita Buyanov on X, where he said Beck had come aboard more than 1.5 years ago and was working with Rant Studio on the game. The post also pointed back to Beck’s role in shaping the visual direction of the project.

Fragmentary Order was only revealed a few weeks ago, but it has already started drawing attention because of Buyanov’s name. Best known as the face of Escape from Tarkov, he is now attached to a separate shooter that, unlike Tarkov, is not being built as an extraction game.

Beck’s background helps explain why his name matters here. He is credited with concept work on Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare II, Black Ops III, and Warzone‘s 2022 shift to version 2.0. Before that, he also worked with Weta Workshop on projects including Avatar, Elysium, and Mad Max.

Rant Gaming Studios said Beck is the game’s lead concept artist and added that it plans to share in-game concepts in the near future. That lines up with the early footage and imagery tied to Fragmentary Order, which leans heavily into mechanical designs, robotics, armored suits, and exoskeletons.

Fans have also pointed to a possible in-joke in the CORIE ARG used to tease the game. A soldier named Sergeant Beck appeared in some of the documents and lore, and players have speculated that it may be a nod to the artist.

If Fragmentary Order keeps leaning into that kind of visual identity, Beck’s involvement will probably remain a talking point. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.
