NZXT’s Flex PC rental fight ends in a $3.45 million settlement

The proposed deal covers 19,322 customers and includes debt forgiveness, potential PC ownership, and a cash fund pending judge approval.

NZXT and its payment partner Fragile have agreed to a $3.45 million settlement tied to the company’s Flex PC rental program, according to details first spotted on Gamers Nexus on April 7. The deal is still waiting on judge approval, but it lays out relief for thousands of customers who signed up for the service.

The class-action case centered on claims that the rental program was presented in a misleading way. Customers accused NZXT and Fragile of advertising specific PC parts while delivering lower-tier hardware in some cases, along with allegedly making the plan sound more like rent-to-own than a contract with fees and cancellation terms.

The proposed settlement covers a group of 19,322 NZXT customers. It includes $923,117 in debt forgiveness, with up to $5,000 available for people who are at least 90 days behind on payments. Some customers may also be able to keep their PCs if they meet the program’s requirements, including paying into Flex for two years or longer.

There is also a $1.45 million cash fund for payouts. Customers who do not qualify for debt relief or the retention option would be able to file a claim form after settlement approval to seek cash relief.
