Blizzard reportedly building a StarCraft third-person shooter for BlizzCon 2026

Blizzard is reportedly developing a new game set in the StarCraft universe – and the title may show up at BlizzCon 2026 on September 12 and 13. The report comes from a Windows Central that says the project is a third-person shooter currently in early development. Details are thin beyond confirmation that the game exists.

The earliest public hint appeared in Jason Schreier’s Play Nice book, which notes Blizzard work on a StarCraft project. Reporting from other outlets linked the effort to Dan Hay, with GosuGamers pointing to Hay’s leadership role.

Job listings published in May 2024 hinted at a new PvE game built around “multi-season story arcs,” which could fit this project but were not explicitly tied to it. The postings were summarized in a Dexerto report. At this stage the only firm confirmation is a short mention in the Windows Central piece. That report credits Jez Corden and includes sourcing that confirms Blizzard has the project on its slate, but public details like platforms, release window, or exact gameplay are not available yet.

Blizzard is juggling multiple live services and test projects, so a StarCraft shooter would arrive while the studio continues work on ongoing titles. BlizzCon 2026 runs September 12 – 13, 2026, which is the likely moment for any official reveal if Blizzard plans to present the game publicly that year.
