Decrepit is a first-person horror Soulslike about escaping an undead castle

Decrepit, a first-person horror Soulslike from one-person developer Jämmerdal Games and publisher Three Friends, premiered its reveal trailer at The Game Awards on December 11, 2025. The trailer is short and stark, emphasizing tight, stamina-based melee and a ruined, medieval prison full of undead foes. Watch the official trailer below.

According to its Steam page, Decrepit places players in a decaying castle prison that reshuffles between runs. Each attempt starts with the player locked in a cell, but the cell location and some pathways change every run so later attempts can be much faster once you learn the castle layout.

The developer describes a loop where players memorize corridors, unlock elevators that stay active for the rest of a run, and find shortcuts that compress future trips to bosses. Combat looks deliberately weighty and punishing, with stamina management playing a clear role. The enemies include gnarly undead and a skeleton attached to a large wheel, the kind of wheel-mounted skeleton associated with FromSoftware games.

Decrepit mixes light roguelike elements with Soulslike level and boss design. The studio says early runs will feel long while later attempts get more focused as you learn which threats appear where. The game is scheduled for 2026 and the Steam page is currently accepting sign-ups for playtests.

Decrepit is an example of a smaller studio trying a first-person approach to Soulslike combat, which remains less common than over-the-shoulder formats. The one-person development team, the castle-as-roguelike loop, and the clear stamina combat all point to a difficult, replay-driven design focused on learning enemy placement and boss timings.
