Diablo 4’s Tower mode won’t launch with Season 11

Blizzard confirmed in its developer update that the Tower, Diablo 4’s new leaderboard challenge, will not be available at Season 11 launch and instead will arrive as a beta feature in a mid-season patch. The developer framed the first release as an initial step that will be tuned over multiple seasons based on player feedback and shared the announcement on the official Blizzard news site.

In the livestream the team described the Tower as a beta system designed to evolve: rules, enemy layouts, pacing, and rewards are expected to see regular adjustments once the mode is live. The goal is to iterate with the community rather than lock the mode in on day one. Developers also said the Tower and the Pit currently feel too similar – both modes are timed, combat-focused, and push players through scaling difficulty – so the teams plan to make each endgame path more distinct over time. Players will still be able to run the Pit as normal when Season 11 begins, while the Tower and its leaderboards will unlock with the later update.

When the mid-season patch lands, the Tower will unlock after players complete Rank 2 of their Season Rank. The entrance will appear at the Obelisk in Cerrigar, and runs can be attempted at any difficulty tier the player has already opened through the Pit. Blizzard listed a few changes made after PTR testing, including removing two bosses that exhibited problematic behavior and giving the Tower the ability to unlock difficulty tiers on its own. The developer wrote:

Since the PTR, we’ve made the change that The Tower can now unlock Difficulty Tiers on its own. Additionally, we’re removing a few bosses which have problematic behavior. Specifically, the Vampire boss wraith, and the Fallen Shaman Boss Sower of Decay.

More specifics and exact timing will be shared closer to the mid-season release.
