Escape From Tarkov Falling Skies quest guide – how to complete every objective and the armored case choice

The Falling Skies quest is part of Escape From Tarkov’s main storyline added with the 1.0 update, and it sends players to a downed private jet in the Woods and across Shoreline to collect a handful of mission items. This guide breaks down how to unlock the quest, where to find the flash drive and flight recorder, what materials Prapor asks for, how to craft the required components in the hideout, and what happens if you keep the armored case for yourself.

To start the quest, you need to find the private jet crashed on the Woods map. This area is familiar if you have the Introduction quest that unlocks Jaeger. The plane lies on the eastern half of the map between the Old Sawmill and the EMERCOM camp. Approach from the Old Sawmill direction to make the wreck easy to spot. Walk the crest between the two rocks while looking southwest and you will find a gap in the trees with the plane. If you come from elsewhere look for felled trees and debris from the crash.

Traders will point you toward a flash drive containing useful data. Prapor mentions the drive and links the jet to TerraGroup. Therapist offers an informant who can name a likely G-Wagon location for a fee of $2000. If you do not want to pay, the following sections give the exact locations for the items you need. The USB drive is on the southwestern edge of Shoreline near the Collapsed Tunnel extract. The Shoreline paper map uses north at the bottom in-game. On a correctly oriented map the drive sits by the beach just past the small fishing islet. Look for a black G-Wagon among abandoned ambulances and other vehicles.

The drive lies on the left side of the G-Wagon by the driver door. If Collapsed Tunnel is blocked use Path to Lighthouse or the swamp extract while watching for extract campers. After handing the flash drive to Prapor you are told to fetch the aircraft black box. The black box sits in the Woods wreckage under a crack in the fuselage. Pick it up then head to Shoreline to stash it at Elektronik’s dropoff point. The dropoff is a derelict fishing cabin on the islet near the Collapsed Tunnel extract. Cross the beached ship that acts as a bridge, clear the area, then enter the cabin. The recorder goes into the stash spot in the room with the missing wall facing the ocean.

Find the materials Prapor requests

Elektronik cannot decode the black box without hardware. Prapor asks the player to supply the following items found in raids.

  • 2 toolsets
  • 3 rechargeable batteries
  • 5 printed circuit boards

If the Level 1 Workbench in your hideout is available you can craft toolsets and PCBs there.

Toolset crafting recipe

Input Output
Pliers x1 Toolset x1
Screwdriver x1
Wrench x1
Insulating Tape x1
Measuring Tape x1
Ripstop Fabric x1

PCB crafting recipe

Input Output
Flat Screwdriver (Tool) x1 Printed Circuit Board x2
DVD Drive or Gas Analyzer x1

Find the flight crew transcript and secure flash drive

After you hand the materials to Prapor wait about 24 hours. The game may not always notify you when the timer is up. Check the task list for the next objectives. Both the flight crew transcript and Elektronik’s secure flash drive are in the Chairman’s House on Shoreline.

The Chairman’s House sits on the northwest corner of Shoreline near the swamp village and Path to Lighthouse extract. Inside the left room the transcript is under a moldy mattress on the floor. The secure flash drive sits on a small stand in the far right corner of the same room.

Retrieve the armored case

The final item is an armored case flown out of Tarkov. Although Prapor’s task text says the case fell out of the plane into the woods it is actually behind the cockpit inside the wreck itself. Climb the airstairs and search the floor behind the cockpit to find the camouflaged case under dust and debris. Extract with it to continue.

When returning to Prapor you can choose one of three dialogue options. You can hand the case to Prapor, keep it, or lie and say you did not find it. Giving the case to Prapor pays 1 000 000 roubles and advances you toward the next quest where Mr. Kerman appears. Keeping the case reduces Prapor reputation by 0.3 which will lock Soviet and Russian military gear behind lower rep until that reputation is recovered.
