Elden Ring Reforged 2.0 is out now, and if you thought the mod was already ambitious, buckle up. The fan-made overhaul has rolled in its most significant update yet, adding full online functionality alongside a fresh dungeon, new gear, reworked combat, and broader platform support.
The headline is the new multiplayer suite. Reforged 2.0 brings message boards, summoning, invasions, and duels via a custom server and matchmaking layer built for the mod. That means players running Reforged can link up or fight one another without juggling third-party tools, and there is also advanced seamless co-op support for larger groups of mod players.
The Serpentine Depths is the flagship single-player addition – a new dungeon beneath Mount Gelmir populated with unique enemies and new encounters. There is also content in Shadow of the Erdtree’s Land of Shadow, with the Stone Coffin Fissure reclaimed by the restless dead. Reforged 2.0 ships with new bosses, minions, and a suite of weapons and spells, including three spells from the Prince of Death school.
The overhaul isn’t cosmetic. The mod promises thousands of manual placements for collectibles and treasures so that clearing a dungeon or finding a secret actually pays off. Character stats are reworked, weapon affinities expanded, and Ashes of War can carry passive boosts now. A new Fortunes system gives characters defining mechanics, boons, and drawbacks to shape a playstyle, and Runeforging and Curios add new progression options. Rare Starlight Tokens let you unlock capstone items early at the Altar of Anticipation.
Combat has been retooled, too. There are new mobility options like sliding and ducking, and any weapon can guard or deflect with precise timing. Successful inputs can trigger “perfect actions” that improve speed and resource cost. FP has been rebalanced and is now earned through weapon attacks. Left-handed armaments can use special moves without losing guard, and status effects such as Madness and Deathblight are viable against many foes, bosses included.
The Reforged codex, which lets you collect defeated foes, has been expanded. Bosses can be re-challenged after defeat, the automatic camera is improved for larger enemies, and the UI has been refined for clearer information. The team also added a difficulty slider so players can tune the challenge to their taste.
If Nightreign has been grabbing headlines, we previously covered its co-op expansion and the broader multiplayer conversation in our Nightreign piece. Reforged takes a different tack – leaning toward fidelity with the original game while applying thousands of changes that aim to reward exploration and meaningful build choices.
Reforged 2.0 is available as a free download on Nexus Mods, where the mod page also includes install instructions and compatibility notes. The update also improves Linux support for players running non-Windows setups.
Find the mod on the Elden Ring Reforged Nexus page on Nexus Mods for installation details and the full changelist. With close to a million downloads since 2022, there should already be plenty of company waiting in the halls.
