Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition is available on PlayStation 5 as of November 4, 2025, and the new expansion Dynasties of the East is live across Steam, Microsoft Store, Xbox, and PlayStation 5. The PS5 edition ships with a controller-first interface rebuilt to make classic RTS actions feel natural on a DualSense. Expect simplified tactical commands, an enhanced radial UI, and optional automation to help manage economy and micromanagement when you want to focus on the big moves. The Anniversary Edition on PS5 includes the base game and its expansions, with five campaigns and 43 missions stretching from the Dark Ages to the Renaissance.
Dynasties of the East adds four variant civilizations with distinct units and tech trees – the Golden Horde, Macedonian Dynasty, Sengoku Daimyo, and Tughlaq Dynasty. The expansion also brings eight new maps, six biomes, and a fresh single-player mode called The Crucible, a roguelite RTS loop with randomized objectives and unlockable Perks. The Crucible has you facing unpredictable waves, choosing adaptive upgrades between runs, and testing endurance in a way that changes the rhythm of a match. It aims to be a compact single-player bite of Age of Empires IV that still rewards strategic planning and risk management.
Players on PlayStation 5 who own the Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Premium Edition will get Dynasties of the East at no extra cost, and the expansion is available for purchase on other platforms. For readers tracking recent fixes and live service updates, there was a prior maintenance patch earlier this year; see the Patch 14.1.5602 bug fixes and Winds of Change event for background on tuning and stability work that preceded this release.
