Embark Studios is taking a pragmatic step against cheaters in ARC Raiders by restoring items that players lost after encountering unfair play. Victims will receive their gear back and can claim it before their next run Topside.
The recovery is being handled on a case by case basis. A message shared via the ARC Radar X account says, “Your items were lost due to unfair play, but we managed to get them back for you! They’re now available for you to claim and take with you on your next journey Topside. We’re committed to building an environment where gameplay is about skill, teamwork, and fun, not unfair advantages. Thank you for being part of this mission! Together, we’re building ARC Raiders into a fair and fun experience for everyone.”
What this means in practice – if a run is ruined by a cheater or exploiter and items disappear from inventories, Embark will restore those items rather than leaving victims empty handed. The studio can then move to ban confirmed abusers so they cannot repeat the behavior.
This is not a cure for cheating, but it does reduce the damage done to players who get targeted. ARC Raiders has been moving fast on fixes and broader plans, and this fits with the studio’s longer-term approach. We previously covered Embark’s 10-year plan for ARC Raiders, and the team has already shown it will push updates rapidly after launch.
For context on the game’s early popularity and stress on backend systems, see our coverage of the server slam that hit nearly 190K concurrent players. Fast growth is great, but it also puts pressure on anti-cheat and moderation tools, which makes item recovery a useful stopgap when things go wrong.
