A small but meaningful update for Hollow Knight: Silksong has rolled out as version 1.0.28891. The patch brings controller improvements and a broad set of bug fixes that close several out-of-bounds exploits and a softlock, while also applying a slight damage reduction to the Thread Storm Silk Skill at higher needle levels. The update is mainly bug-focused: controller support was expanded and the game now pauses if a controller disconnects, which prevents players from getting popped mid-fight. Most of the fixes target stability and environmental exploits, though there are a couple of small balance tweaks to Hornet’s Silk Skills.
Patch details Version 1.0.28891
Controller and platform changes
- Added support for DualSense Edge controllers.
- Game now pauses when the controller disconnects, preventing vulnerability during fights.
- Improved controller support on Mac, and a number of smaller controller-related issues addressed.
Gameplay balance
- Slight decrease to Thread Storm damage at higher needle levels.
- Slight increase to Sharp Dart and Cross Stitch damage.
Boss and encounter fixes
- Fixed several out-of-bounds situations that could affect enemy and boss behavior.
- Crust King Khann – addressed an issue on low-end systems where he could fall out of bounds immediately upon entering the fight.
- Seth – removed an issue where he could go out of bounds and not return, and fixed a refight case where he could remain invincible at the start.
Bug fixes and stability
- Several out-of-bounds situations removed, including cases where Surgeon enemies could pull Hornet into the void.
- Fixed a case where Spool Fragments (permanent silk capacity items) could become permanently missable if the player quit immediately after pickup.
- Fixed a softlock that could occur during the Grand Gate opening sequence if the Citadel had previously been visited and some bellshrines remained inactive.
- Various additional bug fixes and smaller improvements across the game.
Notes for players
The Thread Storm damage reduction is described as “slight” and only affects higher needle levels, so the change may not be dramatic in regular play. Most players will notice the practical benefits of the stability fixes and improved controller handling first, especially those on Mac or using high-end controllers.
