Season 1 is the headline here, and the developer has linked back to the Season 1 blog for more on features coming to Early Access. The October update focuses on smoothing out live play and polishing systems that were causing crashes and progression headaches.
PC players receive targeted fixes, including improved widescreen support and a revised resolution selector that now utilizes a drop-down menu, ensuring settings are applied correctly. Beyond that, stability improvements aim to reduce crashes across platforms and improve overall reliability.
Gameplay responsiveness and balance have been refined, narrative and audio issues have been polished, and the skater creation and customization tools have received a series of fixes. Visual and material updates sharpen textures and cohesion, while menus and localization got targeted attention to make the game easier to navigate in multiple languages.
The patch also includes a range of bug fixes affecting live data, Quickdrop and Throwdown systems, environmental collision and level layout issues, as well as mission progression problems. A set of specific known issues that were blocking players have been marked fixed in 0.28, while other problems remain under investigation.

As always, we’re dropping the Patch Notes and Known Issues for you to dive into before the update goes live, and we’re going live with Update 0.28.0 on Oct 7, 2025, with numerous fixes, improvements, tweaks, and changes. For more information about the new features coming to Early Access, refer back to our Season 1 blog.
IMPROVEMENTS AND ADDITIONS
- PC Improvements:
- Better widescreen support
- Fixed the resolution selector by adding a drop-down menu, which also fixes how the resolution settings are applied.
- Stability Improvements: We’ve resolved a significant number of crash bugs, resulting in a much smoother and more reliable game.
- Gameplay Enhancements: Improvements have been made to core gameplay responsiveness and balance, ironing out many lingering bugs.
- Narrative Updates: A broad range of narrative issues have been polished, making story and dialogue moments feel more engaging.
- Audio Improvements: Numerous enhancements have been made to the game’s audio for clearer sound and a more immersive atmosphere.
- Create & Customize a Skater: You’ll find enhanced skater creation and customization, with extensive fixes improving these features.
- Visual & Material Updates: Significant visual polish, including improvements to textures and materials, means a crisper and more cohesive look throughout the game.
- UI Polishing: The menus and user interface are cleaner and easier to navigate with several targeted improvements.
- Localization: Updates have been made to improve playability and clarity in multiple languages.
BUG FIXES
- Live Play & Data Fixes: Various issues affecting live game data and updates have been addressed.
- Quickdrop/Throwdown Fixes: The Quickdrop and Throwdown systems have received significant bug fixes for improved performance.
- Environmental Fixes: We addressed a wide range of issues, including level layouts, collision and environment interactions, resulting in noticeably improved navigation and exploration.
- Mission Fixes: Mission-related bugs have been addressed for more consistent progression and objective completion.
KNOWN ISSUES FIXED IN 0.28
These are the top issues we wanted to highlight, but rest assured there are more issues fixed in this patch.
- “Waiting for Players” bug when doing solo challenges.
- Users experience an infinite loading screen when trying to join San Van on Xbox platforms.
- Long queues to log into the game/server issues.
- Founder’s Upgrade is missing if Founder’s Pack is purchased on a different platform.
- Game crashes when scrolling through users in Spectate.
- Players can be trapped by drop items in shop spawn locations.
- The RIP Card customization will flicker between the old and new assets for a while after the selected user updates their customization.
- Player stuck unable to progress Tour 1 Skater Eyes: Stunting 101.
- During the last step of “Spots and How to Own Them” when the user will start the challenge, they will be stuck for ~3 minutes with the message “Waiting for players”.
- Quick Drops are invisible when chosen and cannot be placed.
- Sometimes viewing the preview of players in the San Van List causes a black screen, and exiting out to game from this state will lead to a soft lock.
- When entering a grind and leaning to exit, skater disappears (rare).
- Criteria for unlocking the Historic neighborhood (Gullcrest Village) is not showing up, causing the mission to not appear.
- Disabled the “Pad Hopper” Challenge due to a world prop making the Challenge harder than intended
KNOWN ISSUES STILL BEING WORKED ON
We are tracking the following Known Issues as well. This is not an exhaustive list, and we’ll keep you updated as more trending issues are tracked.
- Stuck on Isle of Grom
- We pushed out a fix to stop the issue from occurring. However, this didn’t retroactively fix those in this state and we’re working to get the ferry running for those still stuck as soon as possible.
- Unable to play Skate. due to a “connection to EA Servers” error. “ERROR 852146987”
- Troubleshooting: Ensure that the VPN is disabled and check that the EA App is not in offline mode. For more troubleshooting help, refer to our Connectivity FAQ.
- Invisible party members when joining friend from another server
- Workaround (not 100%): After the transition, any of the 2 party members would have to Teleport to the other party member so they could see one another.
- Fix: Team is currently investigating a full fix.
- Achievements are not granted to the user
- Fix: We’re looking for a solution and will keep you posted with our progress.
- The replay editor often captures stuttering during export
- We’re working on a solution and will keep you updated on our progress.
- Criteria for unlocking the Financial neighborhood is not showing up, causing the “Manual Extension” mission to not appear
- Workaround: You can get to the Financial Neighborhood (Market Mile) by doing more Challenges. Get that XP!
- Fix: We’re working on a fix to be implemented as part of other various progression issues between 0.28 and 0.29.
- Xbox SX players may notice the update is much larger on their console than for PC and PS players
- Fix: We are aware and the next update will fix the install size.
- Slam target showing up/staying on when not in a Slam Challenge
- Workaround: Restart game.
- Fix: Fixed with update 0.28.1
- skate.Pass UI Bug preventing highlighting of preferred items from previous pages
- Workaround: Close the skate.Pass menu and re-open it.
- Fix: Team is working on a fix
