Ninja Gaiden 4 will receive post-launch downloadable content in early 2026, Xbox Game Studios and Team Ninja confirmed, despite the base game not arriving until 21st October on PS5. The DLC will be provided to players who buy the Deluxe Edition or the Deluxe Edition Upgrade, and the first details point to new weapons for both protagonists, Yakumo and Ryu, plus additional story content and a fresh set of combat challenges separate from the day-one offering.
Team Ninja creative director Masakazu Hirayama spoke about the expansion during the Official Xbox Podcast, saying the two new weapons play to each character’s style.
“Yakumo’s new weapon captures his personality and his approach to combat with his expressive abilities. Whereas Ryu’s weapon, as you can probably glean from the key visual, has a more precise look to it and will allow you to perform powerful and high-speed abilities. Each of these weapons will have its own distinct qualities and a plethora of mechanics for players to dig into. So, we invite players to look forward to it.”
The team also confirmed that the DLC includes a storyline set after the events of the main game, as well as an expanded roster of combat trials designed to add more post-release content. Hirayama said the studio will share more details when they can, but the immediate focus remains on shipping the base game on 21st October.
For now, players who want the DLC at launch should consider the Deluxe Edition or the upgrade, since those purchases will grant access once the expansion goes live in early 2026.
If you plan to pick up Ninja Gaiden 4 or the Deluxe Edition, this DLC will be the first post-launch drop to watch for, and it looks aimed at deepening combat options for both leads. Please share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X and Bluesky.
