Treyarch is changing Tac Sprint in Black Ops 7, it will no longer be a default movement option and will instead be part of a third‑slot Sprinter, or Tac Sprinter, perk that will also appear in Warzone and multiplayer.
Player movement and sprint speed have been hot topics in Call of Duty for years, with some players frustrated by the boosts certain perks, weapons, and gear hand out. Tac Sprint, reintroduced in Modern Warfare (2019), has been at the center of that debate because it allows players to dash around maps faster, albeit at the cost of slower Aim Down Sight speeds.
The option stuck around in Black Ops 6, but Treyarch has decided not to keep Tac Sprint as a standard toggle in Black Ops 7. Instead, Tac Sprint will be enabled through the new Sprinter/Tac Sprinter perk in the third perk slot.
Tac Sprint perk will replace Tac Sprint
So, Tac Sprint isn’t disappearing, it’s moving. The third slot perk will grant Tac Sprint, but it comes with a cost: reduced normal sprint speed. That trade-off sounds a lot like how Slipstream worked in Black Ops 6, which made the old baseline Tac Sprint less essential over time.
In Season 01 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, bespoke movement is coming to Warzone.

In an exclusive chat with CharlieIntel, Treyarch developers said the change was a “very intentional change” to remove Tac Sprint as a standard option in Black Ops 7. Treyarch explained that with Black Ops 6 they kept Tac Sprint to avoid surprising players, but now they wanted to move the feature into a perk slot.
The takeaway: Tac Sprint will still exist in Black Ops 7, but you’ll need to use the Sprinter/Tac Sprinter perk and accept a reduction to normal sprint speed to get it. 😅
