Big loadout changes are coming to Warzone when Call of Duty’s Black Ops 7 integrates into the battle royale for Season 1. This will impact how players build weapons and select perks across matches, making it worth paying attention to. 😮
The integration will bring Black Ops 7 weapons and Operators into Warzone, plus the Haven’s Hollow Resurgence map. At CoD Next, the devs confirmed one of the most significant changes: all Wildcards will be removed from Warzone once Season 1 goes live.
That removal changes a key mechanic: you will only be able to equip a maximum of five attachments on a weapon. The default cap has always been five, but players commonly used the Gunfighter Wildcard to reach eight attachments. Taking Wildcards out of the Warzone equation means those extra attachment setups will no longer be available.
Some guns that relied on three extra attachments to compete with meta weapons will lose that boost, so expect loadouts to shift. Overkill, which in the BO6 era was tied to a Wildcard and let you carry two primary weapons, will be handled differently in Warzone in the future – it will be enabled automatically, so players can equip two primaries without sacrificing a Perk slot.
Multiplayer takes a different approach: Overkill will still require a Wildcard, as the developers want to keep multiplayer matches balanced. In Warzone, where many players pair a close-range SMG with a long-range Sniper or Assault Rifle, making Overkill the default feels aimed at the mode’s common playstyles.
We don’t have the exact Season 1 date in this piece, but the changes were made explicit at CoD Next and will take effect when Black Ops 7 content rolls into Warzone for Season 1.
