Someone found a way to stack poison damage into infinity in Diablo 4, and a YouTuber used it to clear the Pit 150 dungeon that Blizzard designed to be impossible. Blizzard moved quickly and temporarily disabled the Legendary power at the center of the exploit.
The player was YouTuber BigPapaPlump, who demonstrated a build that spammed the Poison Creeper skill while using a Legendary power that multiplied or converted the damage in a way the game could not handle. The result was numbers that stopped behaving like numbers and enemies that died in seconds. BigPapaPlump walks through the setup in a roughly 23-minute video, explaining how repeated applications of poison were converted into one massive hit. He even predicted a fix, asking, “Will this get patched?” and answering, “Yes it will.” The clip and a longer breakdown are available on his channel.
Blizzard has temporarily disabled the Aspect of Wildrage, the Legendary power used in the setup, while it investigates and works on a proper fix. That action occurred approximately 48 hours after the exploit was publicly disclosed. The in-game reward for finishing Pit 150 is the same as lower tiers, so the main payoff here was bragging rights and a place on unofficial rankings. The run is listed on community leaderboards, such as unofficial leaderboards, although those boards will likely remain messy until Blizzard completes its changes.
For context, damage over time mechanics have caused conversion bugs in Diablo 4 before, especially when a DOT is “popped” into a single hit. In this case, the conversion multiplied the poison effect into a single overwhelming strike, which is why the developer’s response was swift.
Watch the demonstration and the explanation here:
The exploit is significant because it undermines competitive tracking and future official leaderboards. Players who invest time in optimization want fair comparisons, and exploits like this make meaningful competition impossible until they are fixed. It also shows how a single interaction between a skill and a Legendary can break assumptions that the systems were built on, so expect more focused testing on similar conversions.
If the Aspect of Wildrage stays disabled while Blizzard reworks the interaction, druids using the exploit will need to adapt their setups. Players chasing leaderboard placement will have to wait for the official fix before results are comparable again. 😬
