Space Marine 2 hit its first anniversary in September and the team used the milestone to recap the year, patch a number of issues and preview Update 11, a playable demo and new limited editions.
The Anniversary Update, labelled Patch 10.0, added free and paid content including two modes, new enemies and a slate of weapons, while two hotfixes culminated in 10.2 to address several critical issues.
What changed in September
Patch 10.0, the Anniversary Update, introduced new game modes Helbrute Onslaught and Stratagems, new weapons such as the PyreCannon and Power Axe, Hero Weapon Variants, and two new enemy types, Chaos Spawn and the Mutalith Vortex Beast. Both PvP and PvE saw balancing adjustments.
After that release, Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment issued two hotfixes, the latest being 10.2. That hotfix addressed several critical problems including the Assault Ascension perk causing friendly fire and Stratagems showing more Battlefield Conditions than listed. The Sniper’s Camo Cloak activation cost was also changed. The full changelog is available on Steam News.
Patch 10 was our biggest update for the game and unfortunately a lot of minor, yet super game breaking issues or balancing misconfigurations got in it. I would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused. Normally, we would catch the issues during the PTS phase, but we didn’t do PTS for Patch 10 because we simply didn’t have time for it, plus we didn’t want to spoil the surprise.
PTS will return for Patch 11 and all subsequent patches (unless we do another huge anniversary patch).

Patch 11 preview
Patch 11 is planned for late November. It will add two cosmetic DLC packs: a Blood Angels Champion Pack tied to the Tactical class, which includes a unique Jump Pack whose parts can be mixed with other champions, and a Salamanders Cosmetic Pack carrying successor chapter heraldry and armour parts.
On gameplay, Patch 11 will bring a new off-planet PvE Operation with a new boss fight, plus more Heroic weapons starting with the Thunder Hammer. In addition, bots will finally get customisation so they can use one of the player’s loadouts when launching PvE Operations.
There will also be a Public Test Server for Patch 11.0.
Heroic items, Siege and customisation
The developers plan to keep adding Heroic Armour and Weapon variants. The goal is at least two Heroic weapons per archetype, designed as sidegrades that reward specific playstyles. Accolades will become easier to obtain through play.
Siege mode will receive more sandbox content to increase replay value, and a range of customisation improvements are on the roadmap. The Community Update teases three upcoming customisation changes as hints from the Game Director.
New limited edition and community events
A new Ultima Limited Edition was announced. It bundles the base game, a SteelBook, Season Pass 1 and 2 and the Macragge’s Chosen DLC, and will be available physically at participating retailers.
The October community event, The Vortex Scouring, runs October 2 to 16. The community goal is to defeat 500,000 Vortex Beasts. If the target is met, players will receive the Infiltrator Helmet for the Vanguard and Sniper classes. PROS is required to claim the reward.
Demo windows and Discord Quest
A demo for players new to Space Marine 2 will run on Steam and consoles. On Steam the demo window is October 16 to 23, starting and ending at 9AM UTC. The demo includes Campaign chapters Rain of Terror and Skyfire, most PvP modes and three Operations: Inferno, Decapitation and Vox Liberatis. Progression will transfer to the full game if players buy it.
There is also a Discord Quest tied to the Steam demo or the full game. Playing for 15 minutes unlocks the Porphyr Shield Bolt Rifle. Discord will issue a code for redemption in the full game.
Event timing note, the Discord Quest starts on October 16 around 3PM UTC and ends October 23 at 9AM UTC. Non-owners can earn the reward by playing the demo for 15 minutes. Owners can earn it by playing the full game for 15 minutes.
Thanks are extended to the community for the first year of feedback and collaboration, and the Game Director left several personal notes in the update explaining the team’s approach to Stratagems, Battlefield Conditions and the return of a PTS.
This affects players who experienced stability or balance issues after Patch 10, who will see fixes in 10.2 and more comprehensive testing with the return of PTS for Patch 11. Players interested in new cosmetics, Heroic weapons and a fresh PvE boss will want to watch the late-November window and the upcoming October reveal of the Blood Angels Champion design.
