Preorders for the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X sold out worldwide on the Xbox Store just hours after listings went live, a clear sign of strong early demand ahead of the device’s October 16 release. The $999 handheld still appears for sale on Asus’ website and other retailers.
Priced at $999, the ROG Xbox Ally X went up for preorder after pricing was confirmed earlier this week. Roughly seven hours after preorder links were shared on X, a follow-up post on the Xbox account stated that the Ally X was sold out on the Xbox Store worldwide. That message does not capture every region, since some areas never had the Store option and must buy through other retailers.
The hype is real! ROG Xbox Ally X preorders are sold out on the Xbox Store worldwide.

The ROG Xbox Ally X and the standard Xbox Ally mark Xbox’s first push into a true handheld gaming device. That puts them into a market long led by Nintendo, and recently contested by Valve’s Steam Deck and other PC handhelds. This rapid sell out affects anyone who planned to order through the Xbox Store and highlights appetite for an official Xbox handheld.
