A new mod that brings Hornet’s old Hollow Knight voice lines back into Hollow Knight: Silksong on PC, including the triumphant “Shaw” cry many players missed. The addition reverses a design choice from Team Cherry, allowing players to control those classic barks once again.
The mod, created by a user named Nai, is called HK Hornet Voice Restored. It drags Hornet’s voice clips from the original Hollow Knight back into Silksong, so attacks and reactions once again come with those rapid barks and cries. Installation is straightforward for anyone comfortable poking around their game folder. Download the mod file, then copy the supplied herosfxstatic_assets_all.bundle
into the games StreamingAssets folder. On Windows, the path given by the modder is:
Hollow Knight Silksong\Hollow Knight Silksong_Data\StreamingAssets\aa\StandaloneWindows64
After that, Hornet will keep barking through every thrust and spin. That is delightful for some players, and for others, it becomes a continuous chorus of exclamations. The original writer found the per-attack voicelines a little overwhelming and suspects Team Cherry opted to remove them for good reason, but the mod gives players the option to turn the noise back on.
This change matters because it hands control back to players who liked the old audio cues and character personality. It also highlights how small design choices can alter the feel of a protagonist when a game switches them from NPC to playable lead.
