World War Z makes heavy weapons even better in free Heavy Ordinance update

Free update adds 24 heavy weapon perks, six Challenger Horde mutators, and two paid skin packs for $4.99 / £3.99.

World War Z’s Heavy Ordinance update is live and free, adding customizable perks to heavy weapons and a set of tough new Challenger Horde mutators that change how fights play out. The update gives each of the eight heavy weapons three perk options, 24 perks in total. Choices range from Steady Grip for the chainsaw to napalm for the flamethrower, so heavy weapon builds can be tailored to how players like to clear swarms.

To keep things spicy, six Challenger Horde mutators arrive alongside the perks. Examples include Dead Pirate, which lets zombies stay alive a little longer after losing their heads, Paralytic Toxin, which slows players when they take damage, and Arm Weakness, which negates the new perks by locking out heavy weapons. There are also some teammate-friendly modifiers, such as Sharing is Caring, which applies medkit effects to all teammates.

Two new paid cosmetic packs are available for players who want to dress up their loadouts: the neon pumpkin Vibrant Halloween pack and the fiery Raging Phoenix pack, each priced at $4.99 / A33.99. The chainsaw skin is a particular highlight for those who like a bit of character on their heavy weapons 😈.

If spooky season means a night in and some high-intensity zombie blasting, this update gives heavy weapon users more choices and teams more to think about. Please drop a comment with your best loadout or wildest Horde run, and follow us on X and Bluesky.
