Leaks from DuskGolem claim Leon Kennedy’s gameplay in Resident Evil Requiem will lean more toward action while keeping horror and atmosphere, with most of his sections set in 2020.
The report, posted to X by DuskGolem, says “most (but not all) of Leon’s gameplay is set in 2020,” and describes Leon with “greyed hair” and a gameplay tone that is “more action-focus BUT will be more focused on horror & atmospherics” compared with Resident Evil 4. That combination suggests Capcom could balance bigger set pieces with a moodier, scarier delivery.
(1/2) J.J. from Residence of Evil posted his video on my rumor stuff, he had reached out to me directly to now miscue what I was saying: https://t.co/hHUAQ5MTHF
Most of it is stuff I've said multiple times now, but I've additionally heard most (but not all) of Leon's gameplay

He also wrote that there will still be over-the-top moments, but not to the extremes seen in previous entries, like Salazar’s statue in RE4 or the Heisenberg cyber zombies and mecha tank in RE8. The leaks suggest that Leon’s sections are not open-world, but will include a few large levels, and at least one of those levels features a vehicle that players can use to travel.
DuskGolem also mentioned a possible Leon reveal at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, accompanied by a new trailer and pre-orders going live at the same time. However, the source noted they do not have direct insight into Capcom’s marketing plans. Capcom has not confirmed Leon or any specifics for Requiem. Sound like a direction fans will like? The mix of action set pieces and atmosphere could alter expectations for Resident Evil 9, depending on how those significant levels are executed.
