Starship Troopers: Extermination, from developer Offworld Industries, will get Update 1.7 at the end of October. The update introduces a new spaceship map called Sparta and expands how missions play in tight interiors. This changes how players will engage interiors and close-quarters combat.
The Sparta is described as a massive ship where every deck, corridor, and compartment can be contested. Troopers will face Bugs in close quarters and on multi-level decks that reward coordinated movement and map control. General Rico’s SOG teams are already aboard in the narrative, and the mission goal is simple – take the ship back from the Arachnid threat. Expect fights that favour tighter formations and more frequent choke points.
On Sparta, players will be able to deploy into AAS, Horde, Hive Hunt, and SOG missions. That mix means the new map supports objective play and survival modes alike, with designers testing how spawn combinations and encounter flow behave inside a ship environment. The announcement includes imagery showing corridors and larger hangar-like spaces that hint at vertical combat and ambush opportunities. An in-game challenge will be balancing sightlines without losing the claustrophobic feel.
The developer update notes that the team has been testing new spawn combinations and that server-side adjustments have helped the team fix problems more quickly. Troopers are encouraged to sign up for the newsletter for Sparta and Scorpion news and direct alerts about the update. Thanks to ongoing testing and server tweaks, the team says it can iterate faster between updates. That should help with post-launch tuning once players start mapping optimal routes through Sparta. The update timing and the ship concept point to a broader focus on interior combat scenarios through late 2025.
