Assassin’s Creed Shadows from Ubisoft receives a substantial quality-of-life update that changes progression and navigation. Title update 1.1.1 lands on Thursday September 11, with the Claws of Awaji expansion arriving the following week on September 16.
The world design sits alongside other entries in lists of the best open-world games, while combat and story keep the title close to more traditional action-adventure games. Interest in revisiting Assassin’s Creed Shadows is likely to grow now that progression and endgame goals have been expanded. Those who liked the dual-protagonist structure and atmosphere may find the update changes enough to start a new playthrough.
The update raises the level cap to 100. It upgrades the Assassin’s Creed Shadows hideout, adding two levels to each unique building for a total of 20 new enhancements and three additional hideout ranks. Players gain more gold income, character upgrades for both Naoe and Yasuke, improved crafting, and boosts for allies as hideout ranks climb. Ezio-themed gear can be unlocked through the Animus hub as part of these milestone rewards. The title also introduces a new endgame progression with extra upgrade tiers designed to be long-term goals for players chasing higher difficulties.
One of the long-standing requests changes how exploration feels: removing province fog. Upgrading the study to level four lets scouts reveal viewpoints and safehouses, speeding travel, and with the kakurega at level four, uncovering every viewpoint in a province will remove that region’s fog entirely. Crafting gets a meaningful expansion too, reaching forge level six unlocks new mythic and artifact quality tiers for epic and legendary gear, adding eight extra upgrade levels. A simple time-skip option is now available while meditating once the nando reaches level two; hold up on the d-pad or the L key to jump ahead to the next 6am or 6pm, handy for planning night raids.
The update includes a free story mission that arrives alongside the Claws of Awaji expansion on Tuesday, September 16, and completing it grants the Bo staff weapon. The title update details state that title update 1.1.1 launches Thursday, September 11, at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST / 4pm CEST. Full patch details are available in the full patch notes from Ubisoft.
