The Outlast Trials developer Red Barrels released the Deep Burn content drop on Sept. 9, applying patch 1.000.033/1.36 to live servers. It delivers limited-time events, new cosmetics, fresh MK challenges, and several gameplay fixes that alter trial pacing and enemy behavior.
The Deep Burn event introduces two gameplay variators and a themed catalog: a “Deep Burn” mode that fills trials with fire sources, hazards, and thick smog, and an “Extinguish the fires” mode that asks players to find water cans and put out burning barrels.
The Deep Burn variator fills trials with fire sources, fire mines, flame throwers, and smog while the Extinguish variator requires locating water cans to put out burning barrels scattered across the map.
The Outlast Trials Deep Burn Update Adds New Events and More
Alongside the event, the patch adds two new MK-Challenges — TRAFFICK THE PRODUCT and DISRUPT THE NEIGHBORHOOD — and a refreshed Evidence Documents menu organized into themes to make lore easier to follow. New cosmetics arrive in the limited-time catalog, and several quality-of-life and balance items aim to tighten trial flow.
Enemy behavior received targeted updates: chase speeds for Otto and Arora increased, nausea mechanics were reworked, and Prime Assets now react correctly to projectiles with the Strong Arms amp. Ping icons for enemies were implemented and voice/ping interactions were adjusted under specific variators.
The update includes fixes across escalation therapy and assorted bug repairs. Expect a small hotfix if any release-day problems appear, pending an official note from Red Barrels on their update page.
