Darkest Dungeon launched on PS4 in September and Red Hook Studios announced that it made past 1 million copies across all existing platforms.
Darkest Dungeon Copies Selling
Red Hook with their list of sales breakdown of where each copy is sold on their website, explains that 94% of them are Steam accounts. Below you can find the lopsided number. Darkest Dungeon’s Early Access phase is only available on Steam and the episode sells more than 50.000 copies in the first 24 hours.
It did not have the full release on 19th of January 2016 that the game launched on GOG. Crowdfunding via Kickstarter and Humble Widget accounted for the first 11.000 copies sold.
We can easily say that PS4 and Vita’s are “decent so far”, with 50.000 pieces around the world.
The dungeon-crawler has performed the best, sales-wise, in the United States. But it is also done in many other parts of the world. Red Hook says that this is the reason they push to localize Darkest Dungeon in seven languages.
They talk about some of the announcements, including the first DLC, The Crimson Court. The developers note that mod and Steam Workshop support is on the way. The developer also hints about bringing D.Dungeon to more platforms.
Also, Red Hook confirmed that they are making a new game. They call it “Game 2” for the moment, the titleless game has not begun the production, but the moment it does, they are not going to conclude the support or new content for Darkest Dungeon.
As long as we keep supporting them in what they do, they want to keep making things for us. It is not hyperbole to say that they are doing our dream jobs, and they love what they do. Also, they love the game, despite the fact that they, too, sometimes lose their favorite heroes and want to destroy their keyboards.
They get under stress from time to time during development. They are not ready to share with us what each of our predominant Affliction is!
