Core Keeper’s latest Notes From the Underground entry is focused on chores back at base – farming, fishing and carrying loot. The short journal sketches ideas like a modified Robot Arm, nets for fish and a fetching device so players can spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time exploring.
I like how this one reads like a small design notebook. The entry doesn’t promise immediate new features. Still, it lays out sensible problems the team has been thinking about – how to harvest unattended crops, make fishing more productive, and stop bending down for every blasted ore. Oh, and there’s a little personal flavour about the Subterrier not quite being up to the job. Who wouldn’t want less chores?
Notes From the Underground #6 – Chore Day
I have been on some incredible adventures lately, but boy am I ready to spend some time relaxing at my base! There are just a few chores to tend to before I can really unwind, though. Crops to tend to, fish to catch, and so on. Hmm, if only there were tools or machinery that could reduce the workload a little? I think it’s time to hunker down with a Cave Coffee and come up with some ideas!
How to Harvest?
I’ve so many delicious crops growing, but they tend to sit unharvested while I’m out adventuring, and that’s precious time that could be spent growing more food! Perhaps there is some way I can augment the design of my patented Robot Arm to assist with gardening?
More Efficient Fishing
Is there anything more relaxing than fishing? I’d spend all day fishing if I had the time! I suppose I wouldn’t be making anywhere near as many discoveries if I did that, though. There’s no way I’d ever fully retire my beloved fishing rod, but it’d be nice to come home to a net full of tasty fish after a hard day’s work. Something to think about…
My Aching Back!
I’ve been making good use of the Laboratory Table lately, and the explosives I’ve been crafting have been a real boon when it comes to exploration and gathering resources. An unintended side effect, however, is the pain I’m feeling in my back every time I bend down to pick up the loot I’ve been uncovering. I thought I might train my Subterrier to fetch me items, but he thinks it’s a game and won’t bring them back. Maybe this is a task better suited to a machine…
