Helldivers 2 is getting a proper shadowy expansion – Into the Unjust lands on September 2, bringing new Hive Worlds, underground tunnels, nasty Terminid mutations, and a premium Warbond that goes live shortly after. Expect close-quarters horror and a fresh set of toys to burn the bugs with.
Well, the Gloom has finally lifted just enough for a briefing. Into the Unjust sends squads into fog-choked Hive Worlds where towering Terminid structures and subterranean mazes hide fresh threats. If you want the official game page, check out the Helldivers 2 hub on PlayStation for more details.
Here’s the visual trailer, if you want to see the Gloom in motion:
Enter the Gloom
Those Hive Worlds are wrapped in a fog called the Gloom. Walk into it and you might find towering nests, corrupted terrain, and creatures that have adapted to the shadow. The expansion asks you to send teams deeper than before – sometimes the Super Destroyer can only watch from above.
Into the heart of darkness
Underground, the cave networks twist like a labyrinth and they are infested with a growth called the Hive Lung that seems to be powering the Gloom. Your Super Destroyer won’t be able to give full support in these tunnels. It will be you and your squad, alone and under pressure.
Terrors above and below
Expect burrowing Terminid Warriors, Bile Spewers, and Chargers that tunnel underfoot and erupt into attacks. There are sky threats too, like the Dragonroach, which dives and spews burning bile. Reports hint at even larger nightmares waiting in the deepest sections of Hive Worlds.
Taking back Hive Worlds
New mission types include escorting a mobile oil rig across hazardous terrain while defending it from Terminid attacks. Down below, squads will have to find and destroy the Hive Lung to slow the spread of the Gloom. Optional objectives and sub-missions give you reasons to stick around and clear every corner.
Into the Unjust launches on September 2.
Introducing the Dust Devils Premium Warbond
The Dust Devils Warbond arrives to kit you out for the harsh conditions of Hive Worlds. The package contains armor sets, capes, player cards, an emote, a title, and vehicle patterns designed for the new zones. The Warbond launches on September 4.
Weapons and Stratagems
Dust Devils brings one primary weapon, a throwable, and three stratagems aimed at clearing air and caves alike.
AR-2 Coyote
You can hunt in packs or go by your lonesome with this assault rifle that fires incendiary rounds. But be warned: this coyote is wild.
G-7 Pineapple
This cluster frag grenade looks harmless, but it tears bugs apart.
S-11 Speargun
A big game hunter’s weapon that fires heavy projectiles and releases a gas cloud on impact. Who doesn’t want a napalm missile?
EAT-700 Expendable Napalm
A single-use missile carrying napalm cluster bombs to heat up a battle zone.
MS-11 Solo Silo
Calls down a Hellpod-sized missile silo with one huge warhead and a handheld targeting remote.
Armors, Capes, and more
Two armor sets come with the Desert Stormer passive – resistance to fire, gas, acid, and arc, plus a throw range increase. Cosmetic extras include capes, player cards, an emote, a player title, and the “Rattlesnake” pattern for vehicles and Hellpods.
DS-42 Federation’s Blade
Pair with the Rightful occupier cape and player card for a desert-marched look.
DS-191 Scorpion
A nomadic draped set that matches the Windswept Wayfinder cape and player card.
- Title: Burier of Heads
- Emote: Raider’s Cheer
- Pattern: “Rattlesnake” for vehicles and Hellpods
The Dust Devils Premium Warbond launches on September 4. Gameplay requires internet access and a paid PlayStation Plus membership on PS5, and some content requires the base game and Super Credits. Let me know what you think in the comments – did the trailer sell the Gloom to you?
