Marvel Rivals just got a fresh injection of content with the August 21 update, patch 1.000.040. it is a small fix, it adds a new map, a brand-new gameplay mode, a special event, and tweaks to heroes that might change how you play. If you’ve been grinding or just hopping in, this update is kinda hard to ignore.
Console players will see this update pop up as version 1.000.040. It also fixes bugs and adjusts hero balance, which means some favorites might feel different in battle.
New Map and Mode
Go into the eerie depths of Klyntar: Throne of Knull, the new map that’s ready to challenge your skills. Alongside it comes Resource Rumble, a new gameplay mode that shakes up the usual tactics. Fresh battlegrounds mean fresh strategies, you might wanna rethink your usual playstyle.
Ancient Powers Awaken Event
Jump into the Ancient Powers Awaken event to earn XP and level up for free rewards. The highlight? Unlocking the Doctor Strange – Old Man Strange costume. Not feeling like grinding for free? The Premium Edition unlocks permanent access and extras like Iron Fist – Phoenix Fist and Venom – Reborn King in Black costumes.

- Reduced long-press time to switch heroes in controller mode from 1 second to 0.5 seconds.
- FPS Cap feature now allows custom settings.
PC
- Improved shader preloading speed for multi-threaded CPUs.
- Added automatic shader preloading reinitialization when local GPU shader cache is invalid.
Bug Fixes
All Platforms
- Fixed Cloak & Dagger – Polarity Bond Nameplate not being dynamic.
- Ultimate Ability voice lines now play correctly during replays.
- Costume-exclusive audio settings no longer cause audio feature malfunctions.
- Fixed duplicate room names after changing join permissions in Custom Games.
Maps and Modes
- Fixed terrain bugs that trapped heroes, caused clipping, or sent players to unintended locations.
Heroes
- Blade: Ultimate Ability animation no longer overlaps after quick Daywalker Dash combos.
- Bug causing Blade to glitch when stunned during Daywalker Dash and Bloodline Awakening fixed.
- Slow effect from Blade’s cleaving strike now correctly displays on enemies.
- Hulk: Texture glitches when transforming through portals fixed.
- Groot: Wild Wall ability now syncs correctly with all costumes.
- Star-Lord: Fixed teleport glitches sending him outside the map.
- Console: Fixed Xbox avatar display issues for Lord proficiency.
Hero Balance Adjustments
Duelist
Blade
- Increased Lifesteal during Bloodline Awakening from 60% to 65%.
- Reduced self-healing reduction from 40% to 35%.
Human Torch
- Reduced Flame Field Damage Over Time from 25/s to 20/s.
- Reduced Pyro-Prison Damage Over Time from 50/s to 40/s.
Strategist
Loki
- Reduced Mystical Missile damage from 30 to 25 (healing for teammates unchanged).
