Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will launch on November 14, and one of the biggest reveals is that all weapons and cosmetics from Black Ops 6 will carry over into the new game, starting with Season 1, a few weeks after launch. So players won’t lose their investment in skins, but it also means a flood of wild and wacky cosmetics will hit the new game all at once.
As soon as Season 1 kicks off, you’ll see Terminator, American Dad, Beavis and Butthead, TMNT, Ballerina, Squid Game, Jay and Silent Bob, and even Zeus roaming around in Black Ops 7. Some players love the variety, but others think these goofy skins hurt Call of Duty’s vibe. Guess Activision wants to keep everything in the game from last year, no matter how out-there it gets.
Carry-forward also applies to unspent Double XP tokens and Gobblegums from Zombies mode, but there are some exceptions. Equipment and Scorestreak Skins tied to content not in Black Ops 7 won’t transfer. Also, if a Scorestreak has changed appearance or function, its old skin won’t carry over. Plus, Black Ops 6 weapon camos won’t transfer to Black Ops 7 weapons, though you can still use them on your Black Ops 6 guns.
Meanwhile, Warzone is about to get even more crowded. Season 1 will add Black Ops 7 content to Warzone, marking the fourth Call of Duty title sharing the battle royale space. If you remember the last time Warzone got this stuffed, Activision rebooted the whole thing and shut down the original. Yikes.
Activision has said they plan to “calibrate” Black Ops 7 cosmetics after hearing complaints about the craziness, but with all these skins arriving at once, it’s a tough sell. Battlefield 6, which releases a month earlier, is taking a different approach by promising to keep cosmetics grounded. Wonder if that will win over players tired of the chaotic Call of Duty look?
Anyway, Black Ops 7’s approach means players who loved their Black Ops 6 gear can keep it, but it also means the game will start with a big pile of weird crossover skins and bundles. I mean, who expected Beavis and Butthead to show up in a Call of Duty shooter? What do you think about this carry-forward plan? Love having all your skins ready on day one, or does it make the game feel too cluttered?
