Rematch is getting its second major patch since launch, and it brings a bunch of fixes and tweaks that players will probably appreciate. Sloclap is preparing to release Patch 2 on August 18, with some critical changes to netcode, goalkeeping, tackles, and achievements. Crossplay might come at the end of August with Patch 3, but no exact date is out yet.
Right now, Patch 2 is live on the Rematch Beta App for Steam owners, but only for a limited time. If you want to test the changes early, that’s your chance. Otherwise, the full update will hit soon.

Gameplay Changes & Updates
- Tackle improvements

- Network resolution and rollback on tackles have been improved.
- Fixed a bug where a player preparing a shot couldn’t be tackled sometimes.

- Achievement unlocking fixed for Post to Post, Pro, and Expert achievements. If you met the requirements before, you’ll need to do one more related action to unlock them.
- Goalkeeper improvements
- Fixed an issue where goalkeeper catch/deflect animations looked correct but were rolled back immediately.
- Fixed cases where goals were counted even if the goalkeeper caught or deflected the ball, causing rollback.
- Goalkeepers no longer play catch animations when diving near another player.
- Invulnerable goalkeepers can’t be tackled when moving outside the keeper’s area.
- Added procedural animations so goalkeepers visibly move their arms to catch balls.
- The Ball Touch system has been reworked to prevent the ball from appearing too far from the player visually; this doesn’t affect gameplay.
- Fixed weird ball warping during certain Ball Controls.
- Reduced camera shake intensity on successful ball steals.
- Defense Mode deflects no longer get denied or ignored by the server.
- Fixed premature cancellation of Defense Mode deflect animations when moving.
- Static ball is now controllable.

- Walking animation speed reduced.

Any of these tweaks catch your eye? Maybe the tackle netcode fix will finally stop those frustrating moments where you think you nailed someone but the game says nope. Or perhaps those goalkeeper animation fixes will make saves feel more legit. I’m curious if players will notice the new procedural arm movements on goalies, it’s a small touch but kinda neat.
